A Life Outside the Court

Kobe Bryant met the love of his life, Vanessa Laine, in November 1999 while building and working on his debut album. They soon got into dating and was engaged 6 months later in May of 2000 even though Vanessa was still a high school student at that time.

Kobe's parents were against the marriage due to Kobe being still young at that time. They got married on April 18, 2001 at at St. Edward the Confessor Catholic Church in Dana Point, California. His wedding was not attended by his family nor his teammates due to a number of reasons. This brought a distance between Kobe and his family.

But the knots were finally tied in January of 2003 where his first daughter was born, an event that attuned Kobe and his parents once again. But due to an unfortunate ectopic pregnancy, his wife suffered a miscarriage that was supposed to be their daughter in 2005. Gianna Bryant soon followed in May 2006, officially becoming their second daughter.

Multiple hardships soon followed their happy life, causing them to almost divorce but was soon called off. Their third daughter was born in December 2016 followed by their last daughter in January 2019.
